Quechua FORCLAZ 50 litres Backpack Review

I was given this backpack to review, and at first glance I thought

“Okay, just another backpack”, until I did some research on the pack.

It forms part of the Decathlon range of hiking gear, thus the first point of reference was their Website, and I was shocked when I saw the price.

It goes for only R599.00*, it’s a steal!!!

On closer inspection of the pack, I came to the conclusion that, this pack is more than just a cheap alternative.

The decent stitching, comfortable shoulder and waist straps and quality clips, makes this bag a serious competitor to its more expensive counterparts.

Best of all is, the pack has a 10 year guarantee/warranty. If it can be determined that the damage was caused due to pack quality, it will be repaired or fixed, free of charge.

On the website, it says that the pack is ideal for trips between 2 to 7 days.

I would disagree with this, I’d say 2 to 4 days, so ideal for the weekend warrior.

Pros:

  • Cheap
  • 50l capacity (Dimensions: H 620mm x W 320mm x D 240mm)
  • Lightweight, only 1.7kg
  • Zip pocket on hip belt
  • Adjustable back
  • front Zipper to open pack for easy access
  • 1x Pole loop
  • Tent and mattress fixing points

Cons:

  • Not enough sizeable outside pockets
  • Side mesh pockets not elastic enough.
  • No proper support frame
